My fine art degree was obtained in 1976 from Michigan State University. I was sidelined by a horrific car accident in 1978 which slowed my ambitions for fine art My first employment as an artist was through graphic illustration.
Life carries on, with marriage, children, and the need for a stable income. I became a nurse in 1997. I am still employed in Nursing education in Hawaii, but I have started painting again to make up for a lost time. Covid-19 canceled my first show in April 2020.
I have been painting the outside environment for many years. It changes to reflect the many places that I have lived. The added "little people" explain the painting's story through their actions and joy spent with friends and family doing normal things in their life.
I hope that the stories bring back some hidden memories of childhood that we all have made in our imagination.
The background of my paintings is Hawaiian flora.
I also starting to delve into areas of overpopulation, Hawaii volcanos, Kalo’olawe destruction from the war, and population incarceration on Kalaupapa.
Therefore, my resume as an artist is short.
