Enid Johnstone is an artist and photographer who’s had the pleasure of living all over the world for the past 25 years. She is currently based in Florence, Italy, after years in New York City and the Jersey Coast. She studied journalism and philosophy at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Her passion for travel led to a lifelong interest in photography and art. She firmly believes that one should never stop learning and remains an enthusiastic student of life and art. Her work has been included in group exhibits in galleries in the US, UK, and Australia.
My art is about opposites - death and rebirth, strength and vulnerability, angst and ease, coming together and falling apart - keeping body and soul together to see the comicality of it all. I like to highlight color and drama against a broader backdrop of emptiness, showcasing the conflicting emotions that exist in this world marked by opposites.
I am a mixed media artist who combines drawing, painting, painted and found paper as well as photography to create art. I work with oil, acrylics, charcoal, and pretty much anything that can make a mark.
