During my professional life of 40 years as an accountant, I struggled to live my life as an artist, to find the time to actually paint. My work as an artist has taken me in several different directions. I painted portraits of my family, friends, and acquaintances, attempting always to garner an essential element of their spirit.
A number of my paintings depict the conflict between the world as the accountant, the poet, and the artist. More recently, my paintings have a free form best described as ‘portraits from my mind’, using a very different technique. I refer to this technique as "first thought best thought", resulting in a totally different style.
I have been painting since 1979.
As an artist I am compelled by images of people… their face, their context, their vibration, and anything else that alerts my senses to the point of wanting to paint them.
