Sam LaFever

I have worked with creative mediums including oils, watercolor, Itaglio print-making, lithography, and digital graphic design. My work has consisted of landscape painting, printmaking, seascapes, watercraft, industrial themes, architectural waterfronts, and cityfront scenes along waterways. I have shown my work locally and regionally since 1990.

My current work reflects the waterfront I know. Tugs, sailing craft, lighthouses, waterfowl, city fronts, and classic watercraft have always commanded my attention and piqued my interest. Through my work, I try to share some of these subjects and inspired moments.

“My work currently consists of constructing digital works using the Adobe Design Suite of products to make art in layers of colored shapes. The process is similar to how a serigraph is composed of layers of color applied over one another opaque, some transparent. I call this process “Digital Serigraphy”, as the result is a style reminiscent of the “Fruit Crate Art” of the late 1800s. The saturated color, simplicity of composition, and detail- a style that encompasses a “less is more” proposition.”
