Victoria Skutina

Artist Bio

Victoria Skutina (Moscow, Russia, 1998) is a self-taught photographer of Russian origin. For her age, she has had quite an extensive experience in creative industries, starting as a writer, journalist, and breaking news reporter in her early 20s and then making a career change and becoming a museums & heritage practitioner.

At the age of 23, she decided to leave everything behind and pursue the biggest dream of her life - moving to the UK, where she has been residing there the past three years now. Living in England has instigated her always existing craving for creative self-expression and she has started her professional exhibiting career there. Victoria works predominantly with street and nature landscapes and travel photography.

Victoria’s artistic journey began in 2018 when she was in the third year of her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism back in Russia. As one of the modules was devoted to photography, in workshops she had a chance to use the first model of Zenit-M (Soviet film camera) made in 1952. She calls this moment a turning point in her consciousness when she decided she wanted to turn a hobby into a profession. Since then she has been practising various styles and genres trying to find her place in the world of photography.

Victoria is currently participating in various online and physical exhibitions in different parts of the world, including the United Kingdom, Greece, the US, and Brazil. One of her works won an award at the ‘World’ Gallery Ring Art Contest earlier this year.
