Artist Bio

Ann Chwatsky is known as a photographer and formerly an educator associated with New York University and was the curator for WAGNER Gallery Space, NYU, and on the Arts Committee for NYU Abu Dhabi. In addition, she was the Director of the Master Workshop in Art at Southampton College, Long Island University. Ann has been a Visiting Artist in colleges Oklahoma State University, University of Patagonia, Argentina, the New School in New York City, and Universities in Moscow and Kyiv and Bejing, China, and Seoul, Korea She have co-led the PHOTOGRAPHY AS ART/CHINA program from New York University. Ann worked with ArtHamptons as a consultant.

Her publications include the book, FOUR SEASONS OF SHAKER LIFE, text by Gerald Wertkin, photos by Ann Chwatsky, which was published by Simon and Schuster and tells the story of the last remaining Shakers of the Sabbathday Lake Community, Maine. Another book is THE MAN IN THE STREET, forward by Pete Hamil, with photos and interviews

Photographs by Ann Chwatsky have been exhibited widely in galleries and museums in New York City, the Hamptons, Texas, and California. One person's shows were at the Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, NY and the images are now being exhibited in the Art Department Exhibit Space at New York University. Recent exhibits include. MM FINE ART, Southampton, Gallery Satori, NYC., ArtSpace, Bern, Switzerland, and the Springs Invitational Exhibit, Springs, NY. and others.

Her photographs are in many collections including the Bass Museum of Art, Lafayette Museum of Art, Guild Hall Museum, Susan Rothenberg Collection, and others. Abroad her photographs have been shown in galleries in Argentina, London, Prague, Russia, and China. Her photographs were in the Seoul Photo Triennale. In addition, commercial assignments have been published in Newsweek, Newsday, New York Times, Esquire, Glamourous.
