Artist Bio

Astrid was born in Nuremberg, Germany. Her unique works transform modern-day spaces and objects into vibrantly colored visions. Her flowing series often verges on the abstract, whether capturing the tranquillity of the rural countryside or the vibrant aura of major cities.

As a surface scientist by education, she is drawn into details, patterns, textures, forms, and colors that we are surrounded with and influence our sense of comfort. Her intention is to portray movements, flows, and sentiments of moments by combining various camera techniques and playing with light and colors. She gradually integrated these techniques of abstract photography into her works after arriving in Shanghai where she lived and worked for more than seven years. For her, the camera is the brush that paints the images that she visualizes, it is the eye that reveals patterns and colors that are not visible to the human eye.

Astrid Krehan's artwork has been regularly displayed in Shanghai, throughout China, and at Photo-fairs Shanghai. Her works are represented in China through the ArtCN gallery in Shanghai. In 2021, Astrid released her first art book, "INFINITY," which was named"BOOK OF THE YEAR" by art collector and Art Café owner Raffaella Gallo, in collaboration with Photo-fairs Shanghai.

Astrid Krehan started a new personal and artistic life in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2022, where conveyed her feelings and emotions for Asia in three solo exhibitions: "ASIA IN PATTERN" at INTWINE, Zurich, "CHINA IN THE EYES OF ASTRID KREHAN" at Gallery Agénor, Zurich, and RHYTMS OF REALITIES - CONCEPTUALIZED at Atelier Roshi, Baar, Zug Switzerland.

With her heart in both worlds, she would like to bridge the East and the West through her works.
